THE LIGHTNING THIEF
(Percy Jackson & The Olympians, Book 1)
by Rick Riodan
Hyperion, 2005
Late to the party on this one.
The movie was very faithful to the book.
So I’ll just say I liked reading the book because it was told in 1st person–everything from Percy’s perspective. If you love Greek Mythology and magickal realism ala HP, this MG book (though Percy seems older than 12 to me) will have enormous appeal.
Not lingering in any one location for long (like the movie), it’s a quick read full of engaging characters. It’s also fun to put the puzzles together as you read, comparing these books with Greek Mythological history.
Looks like I’ll be reading the next four in the series.
