And it just gets better from there, with a trove of unusual, fun and empathetic characters you root for from the get-go. Seth falls down a rabbit hole like no other, meeting some amazing friends, allies, enemies, and the future love of his life, all while trying to unravel the mystery of his own mysterious past and this ancient race of shapeshifters.
The three books build to some amazing twists, turns and surprises, and I read them back to back. One of the best trilogies for YA Diversity out there.
Jesse Daro is a storyteller. And the added bonus is that she’s also a gifted writer with a literary tone that isn’t distracting, and a knack for creative verbiage and complex characters. And on a very personal note, I have great admiration for authors who can write a gay romance with a depth of heart and integrity, without degenerating into mindless carnal physicality. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
These books should be movies. I loved them so much, I bought them on Kindle *and* as quality paperbacks. Okay, I’ll stop raving now. Read all three! The story gets better and better.
