I Don’t Believe in Resolutions

I believe in each day giving me an opportunity to do my best.
Some days, the “best” will be on the lower end of the yardstick.
But it’s still my best for that day.
So I try not to judge this day based on yesterday’s yardstick.

Likewise, last year… is not a measure of this year.
It’s like the personified Baby New Year with the floppy ears, from that old Rankin/Bass Rudloph’s Shiny New Year claymation special.  Each year is different, an individual, taking on its own qualities and feeling and tone.

Last year, we traveled a lot… New York, Las Vegas, Paris, Prague and Carmel.  I’m not going to try to top that this year, nor am I setting out to sustain it.  I’m going to let this year reveal itself.

Last year, I took 6 online writer’s workshops, and had a massive redesign and launch of this website. . .but didn’t get as much writing done.  Yet I didn’t panic about not getting as much writing done. It felt right to devote my time to the amazing workshops I was taking, and to a fresh start with this site… when I wasn’t traveling.  This year, I’ll probably get a lot of writing done and not work on skillsets as much.

To each year its own. To each day its own.
My best for each day will always be good enough.

A Clean Break

We are not chained to last year’s priorities,
judgements, habits, shoulds or woulds or coulds. Clean slate!
When we get wrapped up in the pressure of accomplishment and the ticking clock,
we can remind ourselves and each other that this year is what it needs to be,
and we are where we need to be.

No resolutions needed.
